Channel the Source

VisionaryArtists: see an incredible collection of visionary work: :iconvisionaryartists:

For visionary artists like myself, Deviant art is an opportunity to bridge a communal awareness into the healing and unifying powers of visionary art.

A healthy question we must address is: what is not visionary art? It seems the visionary stream is really all-inclusive, suggesting that any work of art has a fundamental visionary nugget at its creative core. However many layers of ego, narcissism, laziness, or ambition in which this core may be engulfed, anything is possible - including the illuminating possibility of crappy art. We cannot, with certainty, claim a work of art to not be visionary.

The question is, rather, what art is most transparent to this visionary core? What art has manifested through a humble, resplendant wakefulness to this uniting, healing, and mysterious source? We have the opportunity to connect as a creative community, alive and at work, to channel this sacred source together, effectively through our work. Further, the synergies that emerge, if captivating enough, can attract more energy to our work, bring more attention to it, and strengthen it as a cultural force.

I read something Dean Flemming said: "I think these days the art world is whatever you make it. It's an amazing time for artists and the internet has a lot to do with that." ([link]) It conjured an intuition that rings true - the immense freedom already accessible to artistic communities, especially in digital realms. This is reiterating a sense that we are creating a world for art as much (or little) as we may be transforming it.

The Energy Art Movement was launched in May of 2008 by a group of artists collectively interested in raising the standards of artistic expression. They believe that visual dynamism – “Energy Art” – is a natural evolution of art trends that preceded it, particularly those trends which reflect the complexity of civilization. As technology and science hurtle us forward, the Energy Art Movement holds that art should do more than reflect our surroundings: it should aspire to capture the energetic essence of life.

hello gregg, regarding my lightning in the eye: I had my first dzogchen transmission least weekend so at the moment I deepen my understanding and meditate about what the Heck has happend in this gompa....any way I want more badly...more dharma teachings....Iam a dharma junki now :D

at the moment I get money to visit the karmapa and take refuge with him, and then to make a pilgrimage to nepal...my teacher lives down there and will give me the names of the important dzogchen masters and of gompas I should visit...

wish me luck my brother :)

That sounds fantastic -good luck on your journeys - inner & outer. I remind you to be vigilant of spiritual materialism within yourself - as Adyashanti points out, many spiritual seekers go around shopping for transmissions "like kids in a candy store," never fully facing and embracing what we already are, what we already have. Yet I sense that you already know this, that the transmission, as Adya also said, "has already been given."
I'm now visiting 2 friends in Houston, Texas. The ocean in the Gulf of Mexico showed me some things today in its swirling foam. Later this week I will climb mountains with my brother, and have more time away to learn from nature's whispers.
My fondness for Prof Phil grows as I read more of his book and reflect more on his paintings. What a man - the story of his life just humbles me into the dirt. Wonderful!

:iconmathismondhut:
yes of course adyashanti is of a similar school, but sitting in the presence of a realized teacher does something...and sometimes we need an empowerment to be who we are...I will read trungpas "spritual materialsm" someday....

and the no-effort bullshit of neoadvaita sure is not the way...

yes his art is just somesort of byproduct this man is an artwork...a masterpiece ;)
